Job: Workshop Administrator

Contract: Permanent

Based: Strood

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus 1 Saturday morning per month (with the flexibility to work more if required)

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 pa

Channel Commercials PLC is a leading commercial vehicle dealer providing sales, parts and servicing for DAF Trucks, Maxus light commercial vehicles and vans in the South-East.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to work in our busy Strood depot in the Service Administration department. The successful candidate will support the function by providing administration support and undertaking basic invoicing.

Key responsibilities include: -

  • Prepare and cost mechanical pro forma invoices, request order numbers, and invoice when order received.
  • Following up final order numbers via phone and email including for repairs from pre-raised pro forma invoices when required.
  • Processing of sublet invoices
  • Inputting timesheets
  • Liaise with staff in Workshop control, Workshop and Parts department to resolve queries.
  • Customer charges on a warranty/CVC WIP to be built up to pro forma level so an order number can be sought.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with new and existing clients
  • Dealing with customers regarding repairs, pricing and queries.
  • General service administration tasks
  • Any other reasonable tasks as requested.
  • Essential Qualities include:-
  • A basic understanding of vehicle terminology
  • Commercial Vehicle experience
  • Automotive Service Advisor experience
  • Experience of dealing with customers both on the telephone and face to face
  • Administration skills
  • PC Literate in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Email
  • Excellent communication skills including face to face and telephone
  • Confidence and ability to liaise with all levels of people including customers, other staff, managers and Directors
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to manage a lot of information at once and work well under pressure
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning/scheduling skills
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to build a rapport with customers and handle difficult situations
  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to challenge
  • Confident with a drive to get things done

Desirable Qualities include:-

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • Experience/knowledge of Kerridge (although full training will be given)
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
