Innovative New Safety Window Developed at Channel Commercials

Brett Aggregates have taken delivery of ten new trucks complete with an innovative new safety window located at the bottom section of the nearside cab door.

This additional vision panel has been developed by Channel Commercials after London Mayor Boris Johnson discussed plans to introduce the retrofitting of larger windows in HGV cab near-side doors in conjunction with the Safer Lorry Scheme, TFL, Crossrail and the Greater London Authority to increase cyclist and pedestrian safety in central London.

With a highly experienced group of specialist engineers, and over 28 years of industry knowledge, Channel Commercials pride themselves in developing new and innovative ideas for the commercial vehicle market, in-line with customer requirements and revised safety regulations.

From listening to customer feedback regarding a smaller floor-height window currently available as a conversion, the Specialist Engineering Division at Channel Commercials decided to develop a larger window. The larger size of the glass panel would give higher visibility to drivers, giving them a clearer, more direct view of cyclists and pedestrians in close proximity to the near-side of the vehicle, eliminating blind spots and complying with the future proposals currently being discussed for the 'direct vision' safety scheme standard.

Channel Commercials have now successfully developed a new larger safety window option for the DAF CF and LF product, complete with a high quality internal trim giving a streamline finish rather than an after-market or bolt-on appearance.

The New Safety Window Kit prices will be announced soon.
