Trucks, and light commercial vehicles and vans in the South-East.
Job Description:
The successful applicant will have experience in heavy vehicle mechanics and will have opportunities to further their career with structured manufacturer and technical training.
- Salary will be very competitive and there is a realistic opportunity to further enhance earnings with regular overtime
- Monday to Friday and a Saturday rota.

- The successful applicant will be based at our Maidstone depot in Kent.
Key responsibilities include:-
- Allocating
work to the most appropriate Commercial Vehicle Technician depending on the
job, availability, skills and experiences when the Workshop Controller is
absent
- Overseeing work to ensure completion on time and to a high standard, reallocating duties where necessary
- Liaison with managers and customers on progress
- Dealing with queries from customers over the telephone and face to face
- Ensuring relevant work instructions, quality systems and all company policies are followed
- Service, repair, road testing and fault diagnose of vehicles
- Quality control and checking
- Signing off Job cards/work and completion of relevant paperwork
- Supervise workshop staff, including monitoring of time keeping and productivity, authorising overtime, identifying training needs
- Provide technical support to the workshop and external customers
Essential Qualities include:-
- Sound knowledge and experience of heavy vehicle mechanics (preferably DAF)
- Qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair (preferably heavy vehicle) eg City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
- Ability to organise, plan and prioritise
- Leadership skills with the ability to delegate and motivate to achieve results
- Experience of supervising people
- Ability to work unsupervised, under pressure, and to a high standard in a busy environment
- Problem solving skills with the ability to use own initiative
- Ability to give positive and constructive feedback
- Driving licence (preferably HGV)
- Confident manner with business awareness
- Computer literate
- Good interpersonal and communication
skills (written/face to face/telephone/email)
- Team Player
- Ability to deal with customers in
difficult situations
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable Qualities include:-
- DAF trucks mechanical experience
- HGV Licence
- Kerridge knowledge
- Administration skills
- Quality checking
